Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC)

Situation

The MDC’s Discover Nature—Fishing program was designed to help Missouri families gain the skills and confidence needed to go fishing and explore the outdoors. The free program is comprised of four fishing classes, and includes topics such as casting and fish handling, tying knots and baiting hooks, common fish in Missouri, and fishing regulations. To successfully launch the program, the MDC needed a digital communications strategy and website to keep Missourians informed about upcoming classes and events.

AVALA Solution

In conjunction with the local high school DECA internship program, AVALA provided a pro-bono digital strategy for MDC’s free fishing program. With direction from AVALA’s digital strategy team, two students from Parkway Central were offered the opportunity to oversee the creation and implementation of the project. The students delivered a robust digital and social media plan and created a website featuring a class registration tool, continuing education content, and integrated social media tools.
